Bollywood movies based on Kidnap!

In the 70s and 80s, there have been many instances in films where the hero’s mother or sister get kidnapped in the pre-climax scene. The daring hero is perplexed, whether to save his relatives or bring the criminal to justice. More often than not, he ends up doing both. But in those Bollywood films, the concept of kidnap was just used as a device where villains try their last bit to check-mate the hero.
But in the past twenty years or so, there have been movies in which the protagonists have kidnapped some or other people to escape poverty, make quick money or get back at their enemies. In these Bollywood , we usually see kidnap as the main part of the plot, where the act can lead to hilarious situation, confusion or even murder. Here are some of the best Bollywood movies based on kidnap in the past 20 years.
1. Khiladi(1992): Akshay Kumar, Deepak Tijori, Ayesha Jhulka stage a fake kidnap of Sabeeha so that they could con her wealthy father, Prem Chopra. It is just a plan that the four collegians hatch as a way to enjoy their harmless prank. However things get really out of hand, when Sabeeha is murdered and Akshay Kumar, Deepak Tijori and Ayesha Jhulka find themselves at a tight spot.
2. Hera Pheri(2000): The cult comedy Hera Pheri has Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal hatching what they think, is a ‘master plan’ to make money through short cut. They get a call from a criminal called Kabira (Gulshan Grover) who has kidnapped Devi Prasad’s daughter and is holding her for ransom. Akshay Kumar comes up with the idea of contacting the real Devi Prasad by posing themselves as Kabira and asking for double the ransom money. They think that they would hand over the original amount to Kabira, and keep the other half to themselves. But then, things do not go exactly as they planned.
3. Love Ke Liye Kucch Bhi Karega(2001): Saif Ali Khan who marries Sonali Bendre, asks his rich father-in-law Dilip Tahil for money to start business. Father-in-law flatly refuses to help him financially. Two poor guys Fardeen Khan and Aftab Shivdasani try to rob Dilip Tahil but Saif who catches them strikes a deal-he asks them to kidnap Sonali Bendre and says that they can divide the ransom amount between the three. But trouble happens when Sonali is actually kidnapped by the real kidnappers and the ransom money is sought.
4. Aankhen(1993): One of the all-time biggest hits, the David Dhawan directed Aankhen had Govinda being mistakenly involved in the abduction of the state chief minister, while the underworld run look-alike of the chief minister begins to manage the state.
5. Jungle(2000): Jungle directed by Ram Gopal Verma was loosely based on dreaded Veerapan. In the movie,Durga Narayan Chaudhry kidnaps tourists and hold them to ransom with the condition that one of their associates are realized from custody.
6. Plan(2004): Four guys, Dino Morea, Rohit Roy,Sanjay Suri and Bikram Saluja who have their own set of problems and financial difficulties find themselves in great debt, when they lose their monies in gambling and owe the winner Rs.7 lakhs. They kidnap a rich business tycoon Sanjay Dutt, but later they realize that he is the city’s most feared underworld don.
7. De Taali(2008): Ayesha Takia and Ritesh Deshmukh kidnap Rimi Sen because the two friends do not want Rimi to marry their rich pal Aftab Shivdasani. Since Ayesha secretly loves Aftab, Ritesh tries to help her by kidnapping Rimi who he thinks is a gold-digger.
8. Kidnap(2008): Imran Khan kidnaps luscious Lamba(read Minisha Lamba) and demands ransom from her father Sanjay Dutt, who is the city’s richest man. Imran has scores to settle because Sanjay Dutt had put him behind the bars for committing a crime years ago.
9. Barah Aana(2009): Barah Aana is a story of three people from lower middle class section of the society, who decide to kidnap rich people, and ask for ransom, so that they could make some quick money.
Barah Aana Movie Review: Barah Aana is aimless

starwin

Barah Aana is a story of three people who resides in the Dharavi slum of Mumbai. Though the movie has been directed well by the Raja Menon, there is nothing novel in the plot, which begins to follow a clichéd route. The storyline of three people frustrated with their lives thinking of an easy route to success has been seen in many movies, the latest being C Kompany.
Story of Barah Aana
Vijay Raaz works as a watchman of the building. The rich folks of the building use him to run their daily errands as well. Arjun Mathur works as a waiter in hotel. He develops a crush on the sexy looking Italian customer Violante Placido, who is actually a drug peddler. Naseeruddin Shah works as driver for a rich family. He is abused emotionally and even accused of robbery by the wife of his boss. When Vijay Raaz’s child falls ills at his village, he knocks every door in the flat for money but no one obliges. His two friendsdo pitch in, but that aint enough. In frustration, Vijay Raaz hits a man who mocks at him. He then brings the injured man to his house and the trio decided to kidnap him and demand a ransom amount. It works, and since then, the three friends decide to kidnap some or the other person and demand money. Finally, they decide to do one last crime, before they give it all up. But do they really succeed this time?
Plus points of Barah Aana
The movie is well directed and the screenplay is well executed. The slum ethos and their daily routine of waiting for water and ablutions is deftly captured. Also the slum lingo and half broken English is well brought out. One of the best scenes in Barah Aana is when Arjun proposes to the phirang girl with the common place, “I am saying you that I like you” The best track is the one between Arjun Mathur and his object of affection Violante Placido. One wishes that there were more scenes involving them.
Minus points of Barah Ana
Once again a clichéd plot with nothing new to offer. The second half which is better than first half loses its grip and the movie drifts aimlessly. By the end you get the feeling that the movie is simply much ado about nothing. The story can be summed up in one line: Three frustrated souls kidnap people for their livelihood, but do they really get lucky everytime? Naseeruddin Shah hardly utters three dialogues in the film but his performance as usual is top notch. But his silence gets grating at times, robbing you of the very thing Naseer is famous for: dialogue delivery
Performances:
With some great actors around, you can expect fireworks. Of the three, Vijay Raaz scores the highest. He is simply class apart, he looks(with no disrespect to the man) the part of the ‘watchman’, he has played the role so well, that you can’t imagine anyone in his place. Naseeruddin Shah is great and he shows that he can be effective when silent as well. The dusky but edible looking Tanishaa Chatterjee does her part well and Violante Placido looks mesmerizing. Arjun performs his part brilliantly.
To sum it up:
There have been better films on the theme of Kidnap. Barah Aana sadly ends up as a wanna-be.
Why Kareena loves Saif so much!

Kareena Kapoor in a recent interview to popular tabloid Mumbai Mirror, revealed why Saif Ali Khan is the most understanding man in her life. Here are the excepts of the interview, where Kareena Kapoor reveals why she loves and adores Saif Ali Khan a lot:
On Saif's role during her breakup with Shahid Kapur:
Choice is where you choose to be, and where you want to be and in such a personal issue, I think there’s so many things that happen which one shouldn’t be digging up and shouldn’t talk about. Saif has always been my friend first in that period and now my lover, so I think we’ve grown from friends to being in this relationship. And the choice is that I clearly wanted to be where I was. I don’t believe in mud slinging, I don’t believe in discussing my relationships, I think the fact that I’ve just been purely honest and I’ve never hidden the fact that I was with Saif and that I am with Saif.
About marriage:
I want to tie the knot but at the right time. People think that Saif is pressurizing me but I would like to say on record say that he’s never done that. In fact I am always wanting to tie the knot and he’s the one whose been telling me that "listen, lets give it some time, lets wait, your are at a stage which every girl would want to be at in their career, so sit back and just enjoy the roller coaster ride for some time. And that’s what makes me love him more to tell you the truth. I don’t think any man in the industry would ever want to tell an actress the same thing. The reason why I want to be with him is because he is so supportive of my work and respects me for what I am doing.
About Saif proposing her everyday!
Can you believe that? Poor thing he is so upset, he’s like "Why are they doing this to me?" Saif Ali Khan is actually the guy who has wanted to be single all his life, run away from relationships, run away from commitment, but the fact is that he always tells me "you are actually the only girl that I really wanted to commit to." I am with him all the time, but I give him space to be with his family, to do what he wants to do with his work. The fact that I am not the heroine of his first production just goes to show that we have our complete different zones when we work.

Bollywood 2009: Year of Fear and supernatural thrillers

Bollywood 2009 began with a scream(read Raaz-The Mystery Continues and 13 B), gives us the clue that horror is the flavor of the year. If Bollywood 2007 was the year of sports, 2008, the year of terror-based films, Bollywood 2009 seems to be about super natural thrillers.

Raaz 2 was about a spirit tormenting a girl so that he could take revenge on wrongs done to him. 13B was a unique story about a TV set telecasting a daily soap that has events that are going to happen in the lives of the family watching the series. The forthcoming Bipasha Basu-Neil Nitin Mukesh starrer, Aa Dekhen Zara has a camera predicting the future through a series of pictures and photographs. Akshay Kumar starrer-Tasveer 8x10 has the lead actor gifted with the unique ability to talk about the lives of dead people who are complete strangers, by looking at their photographs. Akshay Kumar will also be starring in Action Replay, reportedly made on the lines of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where he will be born as an old man, getting younger with each reel. Producer Vashu Baghnani's son Jackie Baghnani, makes his debut in a thriller, in which his character has the ability to forsee the future.

Bollywood flop card for the 1st Quarter: So far, so bad!

starwin

The Bollywood Report card for the first quarter of 2009 can be marked in RED. With flops written all over, not a single movie has done good business from January to March' 2009(the first quarter). Movies like Chandni Chowk to China, Dilli 6, Luck By Chance, Billu, Dev D, Dhoondtey Reh Jaaogey, Victory, Luck By Chance have done bad to mediocre business. Movies like Billu, though appreciated by the masses could not recover their investment. Only the two horror flicks Raaz 2 and 13 B have done above average business. 13 B, is the only film that should be lauded because it was above expectations, thanks to good content in spite of the fact that it had no major star or marketing muscle.
Bollywood 2008 which ended with a bang courtesy Aamir Khan's Ghajini and SRK's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, have again nosedived. The movies to release in the immediate future, are : The Bipasha starrer, Aa Dekhen Zara; Yash Raj films' New York, Subhash Ghai's Paying Guest, Mukesh Bhatt's Jashnn, Sanjay Gupta's The Great Indian Butterfly and Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminay.
However the fate of the above films also does hang in balance because of the rift between the producers and the multiplex owners. There is a loss of revenue in the media also which undertakes the promotion, marketing and packaging of film; viz, radio, TV or print. As one member of the United Forum puts it, if the strike goes on for another 3 months, the movie and the media stands to lose another Rs.500 crores.

Multiplexes not to budge to producers, distributors' demand
2:54 AM

Bollywood producers and distributors have demanded a 50 percent share in the profits, failing which they would stop the release of films from April 3, 2009. A press conference was held at a suburban club in Mumbai where multiplex owners met with film producers and distributors to listen to their side of the story. However the multiplex owners are in no mood to relent to the fixe revenue sharing model. Owners are thinking of a performance linked revenue system.
Multiplex owners who share the business risk along with distributors, say that they are ready to pay more to distributors and producers provided the content is good enough. Shravan Shroff of Shrinagar Films states
," Don't give us content like Chandni Chowk to China and Heroes and expect us to run the film only because a Salman Khan gets upset. We are here to sell tickets and not run empty cinema houses". Producers like Mukesh Bhatt have made it clear that they will not release films after April 3 in multiplexes. He adds, "We will start promoting films on single screens." On the other hand, multiplex owners are toying around with other lucrative options. One of them mentions "We are in the business of movies but we are open to other content like IPL".

Aamir Khan-Shahrukh Khan war hots up! Aamir Khan and SRK in a war of words!
7:28 AM

:
The latent and underlying negative vibes between Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan have reached a new high with Aamir Khan expressing his doubts on Shahrukh Khan's twin USPs: stardom and humor. Aamir Khan, in an interview to Times of India had this to say about Shahrukh Khan: "Now that his films are not doing well, SRK has lost his sense of humor as well".
It all started when Aamir Khan wrote a lousy post on his blog about Shahrukh Khan being his dog, which even Aamir's fans didn't take too kindly. Though Shahrukh Khan maintained a dignified silence at that, Aamir's comment on SRK being bad at marketing, ruffled Shahrukh Khan's feathers. Now, it will be interesting to know what Shahrukh Khan has to say about the new salvo that Aamir Khan has launched against him.
Here are the excerpts from various interviews which Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan have given to different sections of media in reaction to each other's statements:
Shahrukh Khan's reaction to the blog post of Aamir Khan where he labelled SRK as a dog:
"Hum log hum umar hai — main, Salman, Aamir. Aur hum jab milte hain toh is se bhi ajeeb batein karte hai. (All three of us — Salman, Aamir and me are the same age and when we meet, we talk stranger stuff than this.) I have to take it with a sense of humour and I do have a sense of humour. If i can do it with others, then I should accept it."
Shahrukh Khan's reaction to Aamir Khan making the theater staff sport the Ghajini cut in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi's screening:
Shahrukh Khan: I think it is a good strategy. You take the biggest brand in the country that is SRK and then use that platform to publicise yourself. I think Aamir rocks. The problem is that I cannot use any another brand because there is no one bigger than me".
Aamir Khan on Shahrukh Khan's marketing skills, or the lack of it:
“Shah Rukh is excellent in PR. I am not sure about his marketing. You don’t have to be there for marketing your movie. Someone like Himesh Reshammiya…you see a cap and you think about him. That’s marketing. You go to a theatre and you see a Ghajini look. That’s marketing. I don’t have to be there. I think the thing in which Shah Rukh excels is PR. He has that quality and does that very well.”
Shahrukh Khan's reply to Aamir Khan who expressed doubts about his marketing skills:
" Why is there an assumption that I would listen to what Aamir Khan thinks about me? In his mind, a lot of things he has done are right for him. But obviously, it’s not the universal truth. So with due respect to his wonderful mind, I don’t accept it. I do what’s right for my film. I think every film has its own breathing space, it’s own way of working and I think Billu only has this much space in that I’ve done what was needed for it. "
"I think the case with Aamir is woh kehte hain na, naya-naya musalman hota hai? Toh woh naya-naya producer bana hai. Aamir, the producer, has a lot to do. There is a certain public awareness you need to create for a film, depending on the film itself. It can’t be ke mein Billu Barber hoon toh logon ke baal katna shuru karoon ya chadd jaoon unke sir pe. I think Ghajini was marketed very well. He’s produced one film (Lagaan) and a couple others that too in partnerships with people. We’ve been producing for a long time and we have discovered what is right and what is wrong.Actually, as much as Aamir knows the difference between marketing and PR, I don’t know the difference. I am still the old-fashioned guy who thinks PR is a dirty word, and maybe so does Aamir, that’s why he said it. But the fact that I speak to people I have known over the years is because of a personal relationship rather than a professional need, which makes people like me a little more."
Shahrukh Khan on Aamir's statement that SRK has only been talking about himself in the past 20 years:
"Mein shehar mein toh tha nahin, toh jab sher jungle se baahar jaata hain to bahut log bahut kuch bolte aur karte hain. Sometimes I feel thoda zyada bol diya usne, but I don’t hold it against him. I really don’t live my life analysing anyone else’s motives or remarks or decisions. I’ve always said am like a horse with blinkers on. You can market a film very well but it may tank, it happened with Asoka. I think Paheli was beautifully done. I went to the Oscars and did my thing, no one else has done this apparently; and I am taking the word of publicists there. I don’t analyse Aamir at all. I don’t have the time for it. I think I prey on his mind, but then I prey on everybody’s mind, it’s okay."
Shahrukh Khan stating why he does not clarify things with Aamir Khan:
"No, I don’t call him up. In fact, I don’t call up anyone. He didn’t call me up to say this, did he? It doesn’t affect me. But I told him when he spoke about the dog reference that my children didn’t like it. So he came home and said sort of a sorry to my kids. He very sweetly told them, “I love your dad, he’s my friend and I didn’t realise it…” But he didn’t convince my kids. They really liked him, now they don’t. Though I keep telling them, ‘usko bhi pasand karlo yaar, koi baat nahin.’ When I meet him I’ll tell him those are two fans he has lost for sure. I had a lot of jokes about the dog bit, but my wife told me not to tell them. My wife has told me for the last 24 years, ‘nobody understands your sense of humour. So just shut up, keep it to yourself."
Aamir Khan on what SRK said about how Aamir's dog reference have made his kids turn away from being his(Aamir's) fans:
"Let me say one thing clearly, no matter what Shah Rukh tells his children, I will tell my kids to always love and respect him. What he teaches his children is entirely up to him. I can understand that he is bitter as his films have not done well. I have only have warm regards for him and wish him all the very best. I do understand that Shah Rukh works very hard and gives a number of interviews, which I think is a wonderful quality. I think he is upset as his films have not done as well as he expected them to but I wish him all the success he deserves."
Aamir Khan on why SRK uses his name publicly
"I have been working in the industry for over two decades and I have never made any comments about anybody. However, over the years I noticed that Shah Rukh has been repeatedly talking about me publicly. In all fairness, I too decided not to remain quiet and respond to him publicly."
Aamir Khan's latest salvo on Shahrukh Khan's king khan status and his firebrand humor:
"I am least interested in dethroning him. He can be very happy with all the thrones and all the crowns. I am not interested in any of them. He has never hesitated in making fun of me. Even in his films he has made fun of Manoj Kumar and Dev Anand. It shows that he has a great sense of humour but where does it all go when I say humorous things about him? I remember him saying in one of his interviews that he was joking about calling himself No.1. I find it very funny as I have never seen anyone proclaiming, 'I am No.1'. Neither did Sachin Tendulkar ever say that he is No 1 nor did Lata Mangeshkar. Take any field for that matter, Vishwanathan Anand never says that he is the best and I don't think Dilip Kumar or Raj Kapoor ever said that. I am saying all this in a lighter vein so he too should take my comments lightly. I think that his sense of humour suddenly disappears when it comes to me. As far as I am concerned, my favourite star is Amitabh Bachchan and for me he is the number one."
Bollywood Trends comment on the war of words between Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan going the SRK-Salman Khan way:
Both Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan have proved beyond doubt that like other stars, they have fragile egos. It will be interesting to know how Shahrukh khan reacts to Aamir's salvo. Watch this space for more.
Incidentally, this is what Shahrukh khan had to say on his stand-off with Salman Khan:
“I don’t like talking things private to me. I’m talked about because I’m emotionally not available to everyone and that disturbs them. They have the right to talk and I have no issues,” he said. “I think like a father would whereas Salman thinks like a son. That’s okay. We are two different kind of people. We had nothing in common. We think differently.Salman and I had some really good times together. Strangely, these memories are fading away. So I’m sure even the bad memories will fade.We are both happy in our own worlds. If a reconciliation happens — good; if it doesn’t happen, — very good. Not being friends doesn’t mean Salman and I are great enemies.”
Blue, the most expensive movie in Bollywood heading for an August release

Blue starring Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutt, Katrina Kaif and Zayed Khan, is supposed to be the most expensive movie in Bollywood. With a budget exceeding Rs.100 crores, Blue is heading for an August release. The sensational Australian signer with a pretty face and a knock out butt, Kylie Minogue will be singing for a number in the film. The music of Blue is composed by the best music composer in the world presently,A.R.Rahman. Kylie Minogue will also be playing a small role in Blue.
90 percent of Blue has been shot under water. There are also reports that Blue is inspired from the 1997 Hollywood film, The Deep, directed by Peter Yates. Blue is directed by one-tme ad film maker Anthony D'Souza, who has debuted in the film as a director. What is Blue all about? Well, Blue is about a group of people who are looking for a treasure in the deep sea. They meet with obstacles like sharks while going for the kill.
While shooting for Blue, Akshay Kumar was actually hit by sharp object in the sea and his forehead was bleeding profusely. Since sharks could smell blood from afar, his life was in danger. The lifeguards and scuba divers saved Akshay Kumar in time and brought him to the shore. All the actors in Blue had to learn deep sea diving and jump more than 100 feet deep into the sea.
"I didn't know deep sea diving and had to train for six months before joining the team of Blue," Lara said. "But I got the biggest fright when I was told to jump into the sea without an oxygen mask. Thankfully, everything went well." Katrina Kaif who has reportedly done the costliest item number in Blue has even had her role extended in Blue. She will be paired opposite Zayed Khan.
Blue, the movie with many firsts to its credit, is also the first movie to be shot in Bahamas. Akshay Kumar who had a debacle in Chandni Chowk to China will be looking forward to Blue, apart from other movies like 8x10 Tasveer, Action Replay and Kambakkht Ishq. Akshay Kumar who will be rubbing shoulders with Kylie Minogue in Blue, will be seen acting opposite Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richardsand Brandon Routh in Kambakkht Ishq. The only problem with Blue is how the costs will be recovered because it made on a very expensive scale. The producers are finding it difficult to get distributors for the film becasue of the huge cost involved in recessional times.
Priyanka Chopra copies her Filmfare Award Speech from Shahrukh Khan

Believe it or not, Priyanka Chopra has copied her Filmfare Award 2009 speech from Shahrukh Khan. Priyanka Chopra who got the 54th Filmfare Award for Best Actress 2009 had the following to say in her award acceptance speech " I wish I could act like Kajol, be as beautiful as Aishwarya Rai, be as fun loving as Asin and be as good at dancing as Anushka". A good speech, indeed. But the bad part is it is lifted from what Shahrukh Khan said in his Filmfare award acceptance way back in 1996, when he won the award for best actor for Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Shahrukh Khan had said this,"I wish I could dance like Govinda, act like Aamir, look like Salman and fight like Ajay(Devgan)".
Both the speeches are discernibly similar. Priyanka Chopra who has been an avid fan of Shahrukh Khan throughout her life, may have been impressed by Shahrukh Khan's award winning speech, and may have decided to use it when she would win one herself. Well, her dream did become true and Priyanka Chopra conveniently used the award winning speech presuming that no one would find out. But,yeh public sab jaanti hain! Check out the video of Priyanka Chopra Filmfare Award speech 2009 and Shahrukh Khan's in 1996 to see the similarity.

Bollywood in bed, Pillow talk: Director's choice
10:21 PM

You must have noticed that different Bollywood directors approach their films with a mindset spawn from their upbringing, background, interest on certain subjects and their thoughts in particular on a certain aspect of the society. So if a Ram Gopal Verma film talks about ghosts and crime, Sooraj Barjatya talks about keeping the family happy, hale and hearty. If an Abbas Mustan believes in a murderous twist to every love story, a Madhur Bhandarkar film reflects middle-class aspirations in a hypocritical society.
Here are some pictures from the movie Raaz-The Mystery Continues, a Mohit Suri film where the couple Nandita(Kangana Ranaut) and Yash(Adhyayan Suman) talk about the new house that they have just bought. The post-coitus scene or the scene where the couple have a 'heart to heart' pillow talk after a steamy romp session is usually a focal point in most films, a place where the characters talk about the course of action, they should take with their lives. Usually, the plot starts to kick in the post-coitus scene. Sample a scene from Parinda where the couple talk about their future after making love, before they are gunned down by a frenzied Nana Patekar. Even in Raaz-The Mystery Continues, Kangana tells Adhyayan about the new house that they've just shifted into. The very house becomes an abode of haunted spirit who is out to torture her.
Here is a tongue in cheek look at what an onscreen couple would talk to each other, post coitus pillow talk in films made by various directors.
Mahesh Bhatt film
Man: Sonia, I remember how as a child, I saw my dad leaving my poor mom for another $lut. I wouldn't let the same happen to our kids
Woman: Oh Kabir, for raising kids we need money Let us figure out how to bump off my impotent husband, so that we have all his wealth.
Sooraj Barjatya film:
Woman: Now that we are united as one body one soul, I feel so much like a woman, Prem.
Man: Suman, I am so happy, I want to tell everyone: Sunita bhabhi, vinod bhaiya, chachoo, munna, my naukar Manohar, my doggie Tuffi. We should have a grand wedding.
Abbas Mustan movie:
Man: Save your moves for tomorrow darling, Sophia. you have to seduce my bro and throw him down from the roof-top of this building.
Woman: Why dont we toast to that, Ranvir? I will get something to drink(thinks 'to ur death')
Madhur Bhandarkar film:
Woman: Sir, now will I get partnership in your company?
Man: Yes, why not, Meghna? I already have you as a sleeping partner.
Raj Kumar Santoshi film:
Man: The whole system is a problem, Varsha. I need to change the entire system now.
Woman: Yes, Ajay. Only the naked and hungry people like us realize the importance of change!
Rakesh Roshan film:
Woman: Oh that was so good, my dear Rohit. I feel I am born again
Man: Me too, Sonia..I am reincarnated. I am Raj.
Farhan Akhtar film
Man: Oh Shalini,we have made love after so many years, feels like yesterday
Woman: Yeah Akash, I remember your friends, they were good too!
Sanjay Leela Bhansali film
Woman: Uhhh..wwwww..wuuuuuuu..wwwww...www..
Boy: You may be dumb Michelle, but you play the organ so well.
JP Dutta film
Man: Why did I feel like I was in a battlefield, Kamla?
Woman: Because my dear captain Dharam Veer Singh, there was blood, sweat, grime, abuses and yes, you shot pretty well
Subash Ghai film
Man: Ganga, let me show you our culture-mystical, mesmerzing and musical
Woman: Oh no Arjun, you aren't playing the kamasutra video again, are you?
Ram Gopal Verma film
Man: You are such an animal Swati. You appeared like a woman possessed, some time ago.
Woman: You are right, Vishal. I am a woman possessed.
Karan Johar film
Woman: Dev, All you think about is your family? What about my family?
Man: I have already started working on it Maya, haven't I?
Yash Raj film
Woman: Hmm Rahul.. I want to know if it is really love or are we friends?
Man: Depends, Pooja ..If you kick me back to bed, hop over me and go for a wash, then we are friends, but if you let me go first, then you are in love.

Eccentric Salman Khan accelerates in an auto!

Salman Khan chose to ignore the traditional attire meant for the Amrita Arora wedding nite and chose to attend the event in a blue tee shirt and jeans. He stepped out at 4 am in a white shirt, soaked in high spirits. Since he was sloshed, the press and TV crew made the best out the situation; they followed him around. One of the journos chose the wrong time to ask him a question about the patch-up between SRK and him. Visibly angry at the question, Salman Khan gave the journo a glaring look and then hunted for his car. Any other Bollywood star with loads of attitude would have gone inside, called for the car and given the driver an ear full. But Salman is made of a different material.
He called a passing auto to stop, jumped in beside the driver and asked him to speed away. The media swung into the garb of a paparazzi and gave the auto a chase. Somewhere down the route, Salman Khan asked the auto rickshaw driver to surrender the controls to him. The man meekly gave in and Salman sped off into the night. He arrived at his place, saw his car and gave the relieved and excited auto-rickshaw driver, a generous amount of 'baksheesh'. People at the wedding sangeet missed seeing Salman off in a rickshaw.
Stars shine bright at Amrita Arora's grand wedding, Shahrukh and Salman don't cross paths

Sexy sarees, graceful salwars, ethnic sherwanis and classy shararas were duly worn by those who mattered, except the odd man out who likes to do things his way-yep, Salman Khan. He came dressed in jeans and left at 3 am in a white shirt, in a totally un-starry style. More on that later.
Shahrukh khan too came, much unexpectedly hours after Salman Khan came in, at midnight. While Salman Khan was perched at the outside bar with Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and buddy Sajid Nadiadwala, Shahrukh Khan came in with wife Gauri and stayed at the bar inside. After watching the sangeet peformances on stages, Shahrukh headed to the bar inside and hung with his group of friends, including Karan Johar. In other words, Salman Khan and SRk did not meet, did not greet and did not cross paths.
Though Shahrukh Khan left an hour after he arrived, Gauri stayed with pals Bhavna Pandey, Suzanne Khan and Seema Khan. Farah Khan who choreographed the numbers, too left early.
According to reports, Salman Khan is still quite angry with Shahrukh and is in no mood to patch up though Shahrukh is more cordial.Salman left the party in an autorickshaw at 3 am, while girlfriend Katrina stayed back. Both of them maintained a distance from each other.

Akshay Kumar to star in Action Replay, inspired by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
12:01 PM

Action Replay is truly a performance oriented role with a unique story(not so unique if you consider The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). In the movie, you will have Akshay Kumar being born as an old man. He will keep getting younger with age. So in the movie Action Replay, you will see Akshay Kumar getting younger with every passing reel. Akshay's heroine in the film Aishwarya Rai will be born as a baby and will continue to grow like every normal person. There will come a time when Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai will both be youthful and more or less of the same age. This is when the romance will start between the two only to wither away with passing times. In the end, you will see Akshay Kumar as a tiny infant resting on the shoulders of his mother, an old Aishwarya Rai.
Action Replay will be produced by Vipul Shah(who else!) who has made successful Akshay Kumar starrers like Singh is Kinng, Namastey London, Waqt: A Race Against Time and Namastey London. Though Akshay Kumar has worked the most with Katrina Kaif, he will be seen opposite the ever-so beautiful Aishwarya Rai. The pair had worked with each other in Khakee where Aishwarya Rai played the role of the villain in the film.
Akshay Kumar who had a gold run at the box office in the year 2007 with all hits, and continued the trend in 2008 with Singh is Kinng finally tasted failure with Chandni Chowk to China. However the star is still shining and will continue to be the biggest one for 2009, if the line-up of films, he has, is anything to go by. Akshay Kumar will be seen in some promising films of 2009 like 8X10, Blue, Kambakth Ishq and De Dana Dan. But Akshay Kumar' most performance oriented role which might just win him a Filmfare Best Actor's Award and other awards(if everything goes well) is Action Replay. Will he be able to garner the kind of appreciation Brad Pitt did? Let's wait and see the Action in Replay later.

13 B movie review, 13 B makes horror exciting!
10:31 AM
starwin

13 B is a fantastic movie dominated by a compelling unique script and good usage of special effects. Unlike the usual clichéd techniques of a spurned and dead lover who returns to haunt its victim by employing hideous techniques, 13 B is different. Here, it instill fear without showing gore, bloodshed or too many pyrotechniques. At times going hilarious and at times making the protagonist stranded and clueless, 13 B employs the thrills, the fear and edge of the seat excitement to its plot. Writer-director Vikram K Kumar, the director of 13 B shows that there is no substitute to a good script.
Story of 13 B
The spooky story of 13 B has an engineer Manohar R Madhavan), his wife (Neetu Chandra), mother (Poonam Dhillon), his brother-in-law, his wife, sister and kids shifting into a high rise building(read 13th floor) in presumably, Navi Mumbai. Things turns weird for Manohar as unexpected things happen in the daily activities of his life. The lift which works right for every resident of the building goes kaput when he steps in. His family who is always hooked on to TV soaps comes across a serial called ‘Sab Khairiyat’. The strange thing is the characters who are in the serial and the situations seem to be straight out of the life of Manohar’s life. The events in the serial run parallel to the lives of Manohar and his family. A person who used to mock at TV soaps, now has to bow down before the idiot box which seem to dictate his life.
Plus points of 13 B
1. Director Vikram K Kumar does not resort to the usual mechanics of horror management. He does not indulge much in weird camera angles or show blood or gore to fear the audiences. He plays on the audience psyche, so much that the movie looks like a mix of a supernatural thriller and horror.
2. The first half is all about the build-up of things going awry with Manohar’s life. Thankfully the director does not dwell too much in superstition and tantric fundas. The second half is wonderfully multilayered with flashback account of what really kicked off the spook factor.
3. The pre-climax and climax are the high points of 13 B with the director keeping the tension going till the end.
4. The cinematography is bang on, the editing is crisp and the movie’s signature start in tandem with the theme of the film, and ending is commendable. Background Scores by Tubby and Parik is fantastic.
Minus points: of 13 B
1. Why doesn’t any other member in the family realize the correlation between real and reel life like Manohar does? This is not explained.
2. Shankar Ehsaan Loy could have come up with better fare. Their work is just average in 13 B.
Best scenes of 13 B
1. The pre-climax scene and the climax scene.(Elaborating more will give away the shock value)
2. The sensuously comical Kamasutra talk between Madhavan and Neetu Chandra.
3. The scene just before the intermission when Madhavan comes to realize the extent to which his family is in deep trouble. Also the scene where Madhavan frantically waits for the scene in the TV soap where he would know about the fate of his wife.
Performances of 13 B
The best part of 13 B that each and every character in the movie and the TV(yes) has a strong characterization. Everyone plays his and her part well. There is no ‘hero’ as such in the film, but Madhavan who is the protagonist bears the maximum brunt of the spook. He plays his part well and is quite effective in the climax scene. Neetu Chandra, an under-rated actress gives a wonderful performance once again. This is one actress who has the mettle to do performance oriented roles. Sh
Vikram K Kumar is not just a smart storyteller and a proficient technician but has also extracted credible performances from his cast. R Madhavan is excellent as the central protagonist of the film, troubled by the TV. He adds absolute conviction to his character and is largely responsible in adding life to this tale of dead. Neetu Chandra takes a backseat but exudes raw appeal through her husky vocal chords. Deepak Dobriyal is impressive in a short but strong characterization. Murli Sharma lends able support.
Conclusion:
With 13 B, Sab Khairiyat Hai! 13B is likely to be a thumping hit!
