Shahrukh Khan adopted 8 villages for NDTV Greenathon, an endeavor to spread the 'green culture'. prevent deforestation and help villages get electricity. Other Bollywood personalities supported the endeavor as well. Hrithik Roshan sponsored 5 villages while Ranbir Kapoor adopted 2. Kareena Kapoor also gave Rs. 3 lakh check to bring electricity to Chanderi village and is in talk with Bollywood friends to bring electricity to 100 villages in India. Priyanka Chopra who took the initiative to spread the word and co-hosted NDTV Greenathon, also sponsored 2 villages
