Bollywood Casting Couch, Sleeping for Roles in Bollywood

Bollywood's casting couch stories have been doing the rounds for quite some time. Some times, these allegations do reach the media. For instance, recently, Isha Koppikar or Eesha Koppikar said that a top Bollywood actor had asked her to sleep with him during the early stages of her career. She refused the offer and went to South to do films. When asked who the top actor was, Isha said that she can't tell because it can spoil a lot of families.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, known for her role in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa wrote in her blog that she was also a victim of casting couch in Bollywood.  "I remember many years ago, I had gone to meet a very successful producer about a film role at a plush suburban hotel. They were looking for a new face to launch,'' the actor wrote.
After a discussion about academics, family and work experience, the producer asked Suchitra to call her father to tell him that she was spending the night with him at the hotel and that he should pick her up in the morning, the actor said in her blog.

Rupa Ganguly, known for her role in Mahabharata admitted in the popular show Sach Ka Saamna that she was a victim of casting couch in Indian cinema.Rupa Ganguly said that she was asked for unmentionable favors in returns for roles. She was asked for her ‘day rates’ and ‘night rates,’ which she said, were very disgusting. The worst insult she said was when she had received a call on her landline, which said that someone had paid Rs.50000 for a night with her. This was when Rupa had decided to leave Mumbai for good, and settle for Kolkata. Read more about Rupa Ganguly's shocking revelations of casting couch in Bollywood

We already know about the small time actress Preeti Jain accusing Madhur Bandarkar of rape, while Shakti Kapoor and Aman Verma were caught propositioning women on camera (it was a sting operation where these 'models' who were in the rooms with them were reporters). Shakti Kapoor went on to say that Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta were involved.

Casting couch is not just female oriented, Sonu Nigam accused a top notch web journalist of asking him for  compromising. And when the singer didn't do that, he criticized him a lot in his content. Actor Priyanshu also says that he was a victim of casting couch too. He said, "I was asked to compromise in bed by this man who promised me a film in return. But I didn't believe him, and was right in doing so, since the film wasn't made.

Rupa Ganguly says casting couch is not so common today as it was in a decade ago. What do you think? Do you think casting couch still happens in Bollywood? Is it restricted to small budget films or does sleeping around for roles happen in big budget films? Readers can post their views and opinions about Bollywood casting couch, without using the names of actress and actors if you want.

how can you know who is in on it, bollywood as a whole seem untrustworthy considering the amount of shit acting good looks replacing true talent, makes you wonder if any of these popular stars that have made it big in bollywood went through it, they wont want to come out to public so as not to spoil their 'public image' (the fact that this exists is ludicrous, there should be no so thing it, images should be reserved for films only).
bollywood is about buying your way into the industry unless youre already guaranteed a place from your famous family relations- bollywood is politics it is run on a system by powerful operators that are programmed to glorify certain stars, its not about acting anymore but public image, bollywood is obssessed with that where they should be passionate about the art of acting- i know im generalising the term 'bollywood' excluding the genuine off- beat films. well im going off topic here but back to casting couch, i wish someone who knows info on this would expose them to the public. the only acting that should be happening is before the camera.. the world may be coming to an end, but the fact that a thing like this is acceptable is repugnant. i mean its one thing being the choice of the actor/actress concerned but another if this entails lying to the audience.this really is the era of kalyug..

It is a part of showbiz. Everyone knows its there. I think every actress has to go through this phase before they make it big, unless they r from a filmi background.
If they make it big, they can enjoy the glamour money n popularity ,otherwise end up badly. Its the risk they r willing to take, for their career so its none of our business calling them bad names. Even actors ,producers n directors ask for s*x. So nobody slams them other than only actresses.
