Deepika Padukone's best performance so far

Deepika Padukone's best performance is in Lafangey Parindey. This girl is improving from strength to strength as an actor and Lafangey Parindey had her performing the role of Pinky Palhar like a seasoned performer.  In some of her movies, people thought that she was just being lucky but two movies, Karthik Calling Karthik and Lafangey Parindey have changed all of that.

Deepika Padukone who plays a middle-class Marathi girl with a 'bindaas spunk' has given a performance that is going to win her a lot of fans. Compared to most girls in Bollywood, she does not look. There are some girls whom you want in your bedroom and there are some you want to take home to mama but Deepika Padukone has the appeal of a girl who is intelligent, independent but at the same time, warm and someone who can give you good advice. This is what she does in LP.. Deepika Padukone-the quintessential girlfriend, that's the way we would describe her.

Lafangey Parindey Review Deepika Padukone's best performance

Lafangey Parindey is a brilliant movie, period. Deepika Padukone has been constantly improving with ever film and Lafagney Parindey is indeed Deepika Padukone’s best performance to date. All credit to the under-rated director Pradeep Sarkar of Parineeta fame who has also come up with a first-rate movie after his previous outdated themed debacle, Laga Chunari Mein Daag

Story of Lafangey Parindey:
Lafangey Parindey is a story based in a chawl where Pinky(Deepika Padukone) loves dancing and skating, and she is so brilliant in these skills that her dancing partner who comes to the chawl to teach her believes that she will one day make it as a famous dancer. However, this middle-class girl who works as a sales executive, finally has a clash with fate when she meets with an accident that makes her blind.

The guy who is responsible for this, albeit not consciously, is Nandu(Neil Nitin Mukesh) who has an unpredictable source of income and unflattering job-a boxer who has to indulge in blood- sport to earn money. But then he has a rare talent, he is One-Shot Nandu, who can beat the shit out of his competitors blindfolded.

One night, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Kay Kay Menon are involved in an encounter and they scurry off in their car. Neil who is behind the wheel accidentally knocks a person who he later comes to know, was the girl living in his chawl Pinky(Deepika Padukone).

How Nandu comes into Pinky’s life and gives his all to inspire Pinky so that she could win the India’s Got Talent is the crux of the story.

Plus points of Lafangey Parindey:
1. The chic tapori lingo is very good.
2. The flow of the movie is very good and the movie unfolds right from the very first reel.
3. Some of the dialogues are brilliant: Shaana Banna Hain Ki Yeda? is a catchy one liner.
4. The movie has a decent script and the execution on the screen is fantastic
5. The contrasting personalities:guy, a gutter fighter and girl, a graceful dancer is excellent. Actually you can draw parallels from Rangeela as far as personalites are concerned in Lafangey Parindey. Nandu like Rangeela’s Mill is starry-eyed while Nandu’s character is similar to Munna of Aamir, though Nandu does not have too much sense of humor!
6. Deepika Padukone is the life of Lafangey Parindey

Minus points of Lafangey Parindey
1. Neil Nitin Mukesh is fair for the part of the film. Well, we mean the other way. He looks like a Harvard returned graduate . Though he plays his role well, you cannot identify him in the tapori getup.
2. The police investigating angle looks hotched up and is pretty one-track.
Best scenes in Lafangey Parindey
1. When the climax is good, the movie is more than often, worth it. The finale has been well shot, especially the final shot between Deepika and Neil that may remind people of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, but this one is far superior.

Best Performance:
Deepika Padukone is the best thing about Lafangey Parindey. You just want more of her in this performance oriented treat of a film. With eyes that communicate effectively and the cheerful bindass middle class appeal, Deepika Padukone surely makes a mark. Truly a huge jump for a girl who was considered a fluke in some of her earlier movies. With a good performance in Karthik Calling Karthik and a brilliant performance in Lafangey Parindey, Deepika Padukone’s girlfriend-like appeal is sure to win a lot of fans and compliments.

Neil Nitin Mukesh, an accomplished performer himself somehow pales in front of Deepika Padukone’s screen presence. But he is not bad at all. Piyush Mishra is very good. Kay Kay Menon has three scene; and he is competent as ever. The friends, each of them, impress.

Conclusion : Lafangey Parindey is a very good love story, a bit predictable but captivating, nonetheless. If you are a Deepika Padukone fan, you will love this. If you are not, you may just become one after watching this one.

It’s just people not getting along, something that doesn’t end peacefully. But if you can manage to stay friends, there’s nothing like it.”

Trend Setting Movies of Bollywood

Here are Bollywood's most trend-setting movies:

1. The Sexy Designer Wear Trend: Rangeela(1995): Bollywood learned to dress properly after Rangeela. The new buzz word for sexy was ‘slim’ and dress code was ‘less is more’ Urmila Matondkar became the sex kitten of the nation and for the decade (90s), Urmila Matondkar became the sex symbol of Bollywood. At the same time, Manisha Malhotra who creates the costumes for Rangeela went on to redefine Bollywood’s dressing sense in movies to come like Dil To Paagal Hai, i Raja Hindustani, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dhadkan and Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai.
Before Rangeela, the dressing and costumes of most actresses, actors and their extras were loud, garish, gaudy and a complete mis-match.

2. Trend of love triangles: Andaz: There were love triangles before Andaz (1949) but only this movie was able to make an impact that was never seen before. The sensational star-cast of Raj Kapoor, Nargis and Dilip Kumar addressed the youth of 1940s and was a huge musical hit.
ottom line: Andaz ushered in the trend of romantic love triangles in Bollywood

3. Trend of Underworld movies : Satya (1998) started the trend of underworld films that are known to always hit it big with the junta. Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya, the only movie to get a five star rating by Times of India, was perfect and the trend setting underworld movie was followed by other films like Company, Vaastav, Shoot out at Lokhandwala, Gangster and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai , recently

4. Trend of Art Film Meeting Commercial Cinema: Again the award goes to Satya; this phenomenal film was dark, stark and was an art movie deep in its heart, but at the same time, it was not boring at all. The thrilling dialogues and twists made sure that it spelt commercial as well. Later, art cinema gave in to something called ‘parallel cinema” and we had thoughtful ‘different’ cinema with its commercials in place like Iqbal, Dor, A Wednesday, Dev D etc.

5. Trend of slapstick comedies: David Dhawan’s Aankhen(1993) started the trend of loud and slapstick comedy at its best. This was followed by films like Coolie Number 1, Hero number 1, Judwaa and other David Dhawan films. He along with Inder Kumar who made movies like Ishq, Raja and in this decade Dhamaal kept the craze going. . Priyadarshan then latched on to the same brand of humor and made the audience laugh with Hera Pheri, Hungama and more recently Khatta Meetha. Rohit Shetty also laughed his way to the bank with his Golmaal series slapstick comedies and All the Best

6. Trend of the negative character: Shah Rukh Khan was the first anti-hero who bravely took the risk of doing negative roles, first in the award winning Baazigar, then Darr (both in 1993) and followed it up with Anjaam in 1994. Now almost every actor worth his salt have done negative characters except for Salman Khan.

7. Trend of the common man: Raj Kapoor was the first common man of Hindi cinema. He would always potray the ethos of the common man, the despicable who was always ignored by the echelons of the society. No one can create the impact of the common man persona that Raj Kapoor created. But of late, there has been an increase in the roles of common man, where actors are settling for simple and thought-provoking roles rather than larger than life roles. Some of the examples in recent times being Naseeruddin Shah in A Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Akshay Kumar in Khatta Meetha

8. Trend of smooching in Bollywood films: Raja Hindustani was the movie which had a first full mouthed smooch in the form of perfectionist Aamir Khan and the beautiful Karisma Kapoor lip-locking way back in 1996. But then it to a movie like Murder in 2004 to make Bollywood douse itself in what is known as a full-on‘steamy kiss’ session. From Murder(2004) to Ishqiya (2010), we have ‘cum’ a long way. Yes, and we also saw kissing king Emraan Hashmi and kissing queens Vidya Balan and Kareena Kapoor scorching Bollywood in this decade

9. Trend of two piece bikinis in Bollywood: Sharmila Tagore is the trend-setter of the two piece bikini in Bollywood films. She wore the sexy outfit for the movie ‘An Evening in Paris’ in 1967. Bikinis of the two-piece variety were still taboo and save for actresses like Sarika and Zeenat Aman, only vamps wore them. In 2003, Celina Jaitley was the trend-setter of bikinis in Bollywood when she wore the two piece bikini for her debut movie Jaanasheen, directed and produced by Feroz Khan. After that bikinis have been worn by almost every Bollywood actress, except for people like Ayesha Takia, Vidya Balan and Katrina Kaif

10. Trend of sexy love-making in films-Jism: Love-making in Bollywood films were few and far in between but the trend of usher of kinky, classy love-making started with Jism in 2003. This was followed by Murder(2004), rated as the most successful adult movie in Bollywood, Zeher, Neha Dhupia starrers Julie, Sheesha etc.

11. Trend of clean family films: Hum Aapke Hain Koun(1994) one of the most successful films of Bollywood came like a breath of fresh air, when there was nothing but mindless action, blood gore and double meaning films with pelvic thrusts going on, in the early part of the 90s

12. Trend of love stories: Bobby directed by Raj Kapoor in 1973 was a trend-setting movie, a love story that paved in the way for many more youthful love stories Ek Duuje Ke Liye, Love Story, Qayamat se Qayamat Tak, Maine Pyaar Kiya etc.

13. Trend of Khans in films: Qaymat Se Qayamat Tak is a trend-setting love story music, the  Bollywood movie that paved in the start of Khan rule in the industry. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak released in 1988 and Aamir Khan had arrived. Salman Khan followed it up with a mega blockbuster Maine Pyar Kiya in 1989 Shah Rukh Khan arrived in the scene with Deewana in 1992.

14. Trend of NRI films: Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge started the trend of films that were targeted towards the NRI crowd. This was followed up by many films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Kabhi Khushie Kabhi Gam, Pardes etc.

15. Trend of classy, suave films: Dil Chahta Hai is one of the most trend settings films of Bollywood. It showed guys in Bollywood how to dress up, how to bond, how to woo women and yes, how to redefine friendship. The movie that stills stays minty fresh after a decade, Dil Chahta Hai of Farhan Akhtar is one of the landmark films of Bollywood.

16. Trend of actress doing an item number: Mamta Kulkarni was the first main-stream actress who did an item number called ‘Koi Jaye Toh Le Aye’ in a movie called Ghatak in 1996. Shilpa Shetty followed it later in Shool in the sexy ‘UP Bihar Lootley’ song

17. Trend of a beefed up muscular heroes in Bollywood: Sunil Shetty was the first muscleman of Bollywood, his debut movie Balwaan had him with rippling muscles way back in 1992

18. Trend of abusing in Hindi films: Satya We are not talking with words like ‘harami and suar ki aulad, we mean words like ‘chutiya’ that was used for the first time in Satya in 1997. Life has come a full circle with Vidya Balan saying ‘Chutiyam Sulphate’ in Ishqiya

So, let us know which is the most trend-setting film in Bollywood, Satya, Rangeela, Dil Chahta Hai, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge?

Aamir Khan to act in Dhoom 3

Aamir Khan has solved his problem as well as his fans’. Aamir Khan will be playing villain in Dhoom 3, after 3 Idiots. After giving the biggest commercial hit in 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan was wondering which film would do justice for his fans. He had decided to chill out this year and do background work producing three of his films, Peepli Live, Delhi Belly and Dhobi Ghaat. But now it has come to public knowledge that Ace Khan has met with Aditya Chopra, wo had given up a one-line narration of Dhoom 3.

Times of India mentions a source stating,, “Aamir has loved what he heard. In all probability, he will listen to the script on August 13 when he returns from Melbourne and Delhi.” Nothing is confirmed at the point because Aamir Khan will be reading the script of Dhoom 3 after Peepli Live releases. However, he is keen to play the negative character and what Aditya Chopra told him has excited Aamir tremendously. A successful franchise like Dhoom that has tremendous goodwill should be a good transition for Aamir.

Sanjay Gadhvi may not direct Dhoom 3 and it is believed that Aamir will pick the director for Dhoom 3. The Chopras are excited because the villains usually steal the show in Dhoom series. For the first it was John Abraham, for the second it was Hrithik who walked away with the Filmfare Award and for the third, they have Mr. Bollywood himself, Aamir Khan. It is believed that Aamir will be playing a stylish villain in Dhoom 3 and should make a classy impact.

Govinda Hurt his Fans in Raavan

Govinda has defended his role in Raavan saying that he has no problems with what he did in the film. He says, “What I do is my choice. And nobody can challenge it. Nowadays every hero is playing a character. E used to have hero based roles earlier and the hero used to fight with 50 people and people loved to see but time has changed. “

You may have a point Govinda, but you are doing disservice to your fans. Govinda was known for his ability to make films with the most inane scripts become blockbusters. There is a style to bull-shit with excellence and Govinda knew to do it so well, that his fans were loving it and asking for more. Remember the number 1 movies like Coolie Number 1, Hero No. 1, Raja Babu, Dulhe Raja and Aankhen? Seeing him play a side-kick to Abhishek Bachchan in Raavan and that too in a half-baked role was definitely something that his fans didn’t like.

Actors do character roles but that does not mean do the roles that are inconsequential. For instance, if Shah Rukh Khan had a character role in Saathiya but don’t we remember him?

Kangna Ranaut:: Anurag Basu should make Kites Again

Post the monumental failure of Kites, Kangna Ranaut thinks that Indian audiences failed to connect with Barbara Mori as the heroine of the film. “I think Indian audiences failed to connect with Barbara, in spite of her being such a beautiful woman and a great actress because she was not of their nationality.’

She continues, “For instance, if I go to Hollywood, why would an American viewer want to connect with me? We have different cultures, different skin tones, different languages , we are different people altogether. We may like somebody occasionally in a different role, but we will not connect with them. All the super stars in every film industry are average looking people You cannot be a star by looking good, people should relate to you.”

She says “When I got to know that the film had changed completely from what Anurag had narrated to me, I told him to bill my role as a guest appearance becuae it just didn’t go anywhere. It was not even a supporting role.” She adds, “It feels bad when you have shot so much and then all of that is hardly used. After I was signed for Kites, I shot for 60 days and during that time, Kites was a different film altogether. In fact, I kept telling Anurag that he should make the movie he always liked to make, the way he visualized it. Anurag should make Kites all over again, the way it was originally supposed to be and I am sure it will be a good

Ajay Devgn’s New Movie is Inspired By Speed

Ajay Devgn will feature in Priyadarshan movie that is inspired by the 1994 thriller Speed that is still memorable in people’s minds. The Hollywood movie had a racy theme about a bomb in the bus that could explode if the bus lost its speed.

Priyadarshan says, "Yes, it is inspired by Speed but the difference is that we've translocated the terror attack from a bus to a train. The shooting of the untitled movie will start from September 1 and it will be on a speeding train that runs from London to Glasgow. Says the director, "We've got permission to shoot on an actual London station and a train. It took some effort. But we did it. I don't think it would've made sense to shoot the film without the actual location and train."

The casting is unusual from Priyadarshan standards who always has Akshay Kumar or Akshaye Khana at the helm of affairs This time he will go for a separate setup that has Ajay Devn, Sameera Reddy, Kangna Ranaut, Anil Kapoor and Manoj Bajpai along with his regular Sunil Shetty. Ajay Devgn will play the role of a villain while Manoj Bajpayee will play the role of the engineer who risks his life to see that the bom b does not go off.

Says Priyan, "I've just signed Kangna opposite Ajay. I've never worked with Kangna before. Tusshar Kapoor and Sameera Reddy have also been cast as terrorists. My other favourite Suniel Shetty is also there in a very special role." Robin Bhatt who has also written Priyadarshan’s Aakrosh has written this untitled terrorism based film.

Hot Bipasha Basu to take on Serious Roles

Bipasha Basu may have one of the hottest bodies this side of the planet but she would rather do roles that have meat rather than show flesh. Not just Bipasha Basu, her beau John Abraham also wants to do serious cinema. Bipasha Basu had won rave reviews whenever she touched serious subjects be it in corporate or
Lamhaa, which is why she has decided to switch. So the upcoming movies that Bipasha Basu will be doing has her doing serious films like Aakrosh and Dum Maaro Dum.

Bipasha adds, "John loved me in Lamhaa. He has done a film on terrorism New York and he feels we both need to stretch ourselves as actors beyond entertainment.Sure I am very proud of my physique. I've worked hard on it. But now I'm hungering for challenges as an actress. In Lamhaa, I was not only in a burqa throughout. I also got a chance to understand how life is lived in an atmosphere of crisis."

Both Aakrosh directed by Priyadarshan and Rohan Sippy’s drug theme based movie Dum Maaro Dum touch socially relevant themes. Aakrosh is based on honor killing. Bipasha Basu aims to go for the kill. Let us see how she measures against the other hottie who has also ventured into serious cinema; we are talking Priyanka Chopra who is gung-ho about Saath Khoon Maaf.

Explains the actress, "Real doesn't necessarily mean de-glamorized. While in Aakrosh I play a school teacher in a dusty small town of North India and wear cottons; in Dum Maro Dum which is about substance abuse, my character Zoyi is very zany with-it and a girl of today. I'm very glamorous in Dum Maro Dum."

Bipasha is all praises for Priyadarshan, the director of Aakrosh. "The way Priyadarshan has dealt with the subject of honour killing is remarkable. Again as an actress I was put in a situation I had little knowledge of. I learnt about honour killing and Kashmir on the job. Not that I don't read newspapers. But reading about these things is one thing. Seeing them first-hand is another." The scene where burqa clad women hit Bipasha in Lamhaa has earned her a lot of praise, though the actress says it was quite a pain doing it physically and mentally.

"It was very, very humiliating and painful. I had all these women screaming abuses and hitting me everywhere on my body until I fell to the ground. Even after the director Rahul Dholakia called 'cut' I was on the floor sobbing inconsolably. The director kept recording my trauma. At least one could prepare and rehearse in Aakrosh. No such luxuries were there in Lamhaa. We sometimes literally had seven minutes to shoot in a crowded lane or street of Srinagar and flee before being accosted. That suited me fine because I am a one-take actor."

Best Bollywood Friendship Movie

What is common between 3 Idiots and Sholay? Apart from the fact that they have broken records, these movies are based on friendship. According to you guys, which is the best Bollywood movies based on friendship theme? Before you participate in the poll below, let's go over some of the best Bollywood movie with friendship as its theme:

1. Sholay(1975): Sholay’s Jai-Veeru dosti or friendship is so memorable that whenever we see camaraderie and friendship, we equate it to the famous ‘Jai-Veeru’ Dosti of Sholay. Mmeorable and strong as long-lasting friendship, Sholay’s friendlore oops, folk-lore continues.
2. Satya (1997): In this thrilling underworld saga, what stood strong was the amazing friendship that Bhiku Mhatre(Manoj Bajpai) and Satya(Chakravarthy) shared. Remember the scene where Satya says that he likes to leave the underworld forever, and Bhiku Mhatre assures him that he would make sure everything is straightened out for him in Dubai, mouthing the famous words “Mumbai ka King Kaun Bhiku Mhatre”.
3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hain(1998): One of the cutest movies ever, Shah Rukh khan and Kajol’s friendship in the first half of the movie, based on the cartoon characters, Betty, Archie and Veronica was simply tops.

4. Dil Chahta Hai(2000): Dil Chahta Hai(200) showed the most contemporary form of friendship that is naughty and noble at the same time. Dil Chahta Hai showed that you do not really have to be with each other all the time, but you will always be the first one to be by your friend’s side when things go wrong. An excellent movie on friendship, Dil Chahta Hai may not have released during the time of Facebook and Twitter, but it is still as a movie that released last Friday
5. Rang De Basanti (2006): Rang De Basanti released in 2006 was also a very good movie on friendship. They kick each other butts, embace each other, argue, fight, have differences of opinions but still are ready to go any lengths for their friends. When Madhavan dies in Rang De Basanti, the foursome decide to avenge the death of their friend, regardless of the consequences
6. Page 3 (2005): Many people who loved Page 3 for its realistic take missed out on the real emotion-friendship that is shared between the three girls when they stay together . The three girls leave separate lives, have their own take on things, one is emotional(Konkana Sen Sharma), the other is practical(Sandhya Mridul) and the third one is confused (Tara Sharma). But they are clear about one thing, their friendship..even if it is a friendship of convenience.
7. 3 Idiots (2010): Rancchoddas (Aamir Khan), Farhan Qureshi(Madhavan) and Raju Rastogi(Sharman Joshi) in 3 Idiots look as real as Akash, Sameer and Sid of Dil Chahta Hai. That is the true mark of a friendship based movie, you should actually feel that these people live in real. Watch the scene where Madhavan and Shaman frown when their friend gets 1st rank in the college, as they utter, “You feel sad when your friend get less marks but you feel sadder when your friend gets better marks than you.”
